# Static vs Dynamic **Static:** Once Saved, the segment will stay the same unless manually edited. This means that once you save an audience it will not auto-update. **Dynamic:** Once Saved, the segment will continue to update in order to meet the parameters of the segment. All automations must use Dynamic segments in order to work properly.
